They say it takes 21 days to break a habit. We’ll discuss those habits and mistakes that plague many of us from being the best version of ourselves. Who doesn’t want to age gracefully?
There are more habits relative to our skin care that we indulge in than the list below. The aforementioned areas of improvement will hopefully shed light on what we should abstain from while explaining how negatively impactful they are to the aging process.
We all have areas of improvement that we can work on to better polish our facial canvas. In addition to appropriately treating our skin, I will divulge some of the things that we may do on a daily basis that have been proven to be counterproductive in the aging of our skin.
1. You don’t apply Eye Cream
I have an entire write-up on how this factor alone is essential to your “fountain of youth”. I strongly recommend applying eye cream today; every day. There are a number of Eye Cream options on the market, however, make sure you select a cream with a proven track record. For me, it was a no-brainer to go with Revitol Eye Cream after my results.
A good, no-nonsense, skincare routine needs to incorporate a good eye cream to maintain aging wrinkles. The skin around the eyes is much thinner than the skin on the rest of your face. Depending on the condition of the skin around this area, your age is likely to be revealed. It is vital to keep the attention areas hydrated as they have the ability to shave years of aging from your face. The most effective eye creams contain a good portion of Vitamin A. Other critical additions include emollients, antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C. These promote the creation of collagen and elastin to moisturize the skin and reduce fine lines around the eyes.
2. You are not getting enough hours of Sleep
Not fulfilling the need to maintain sufficient sleeping hours not only results in dark circles beneath the eyes, but it’s also been linked to a shorter lifespan. Sleeping roughly seven hours a day is generally a healthy rule of thumb. Get to bed before if you’ve got the signs of sleep deprivation, which include a lack of daylight energy, mental sluggishness, focus problems, or weight gain.
3. You Put On Too Much Makeup
This is one of the few aging causes where the fellas can bypass, but I need the ladies to take heed. An abundant amount of makeup can age you significantly. Wearing unreasonable amounts of oil-based makeup products can clutter your skin’s pores. The combination of fragrances and overused skin products that include irritable chemicals can strip your face of its natural oils. In turn, this induces wrinkles and dry skin. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy getting glammed up for the Hubby or for special occasions. It is recommended that you do not indulge or overdo it.
4. You Sip Drinks Through a Straw
This act takes somewhat longer to see signs of aging, however, (if done every day), those permagrins and wrinkles could be right around the corner. This is why the separation between you and poor habits starts today. It is true that consuming darker drinks via a straw can stop stains from forming on your teeth. But on the other hand (similar to squinting leading to wrinkles forming around the eyes), clasping your lips can bring about wrinkles around the mouth. This also happens when smoking cigarettes. It is best, to simply pour your beverages into a drinking glass.
5. You Cut Fat Completely Out Of Your Diet
With the rise of health-conscious individuals and the vegan-friendly restaurants, it is critical not to cut fats completely out of your diet. Some fat is essential for keeping us looking and physically feeling good. What is a good source to obtain fat? Heart-healthy omega 3 fatty acids found in oily fish (like salmon) and specific nuts (like walnuts and flax seeds) allow your skin to flourish, thus preventing wrinkles. Additionally, these foods improve both brain and heart health too. It is recommended that you incorporate fish into your food dishes at least two times per week.
